“The Tanunda Football Club held it’s annual Sportsmans evening at Langmeil Winery on Sunday night the 27th July with around 200 guests enjoying a wonderful evening of entertainment and laughs. Proceedings kicked off with Langmeil Winery founder, Mr Richard Lindner welcoming all guests, highlighted with stories of playing at Tanunda when there were 14 Lindners in the senior sides! President Dan Eggleton then interviewed local lad and 151 game Port Power player Justin Westhoff. Westhoff delighted the crowd with stories of his junior football at Tanunda and the ups and downs of playing, including being benched for an entire colts grand final by the coach, unheard of today by Ken Hinkley! The noight continued with special collectors items being auctioned off as fundraising for the Tanunda Football Club to great success. Mr Sam Newman was then introduced, to regale many stories of his experiences in the media and personal life, to the delight of the audience. Sometimes bawdy, sometimes insightful, Mr Newman provided a great range of memories for the Tanunda faithful.

The evening concluded with a question and answer session where not only did Mr Newman reveal that he recalls every name of the finishing class of his year at Geelong Grammar, but also that he was overtaken by Usafa Powell driving his Lamborghini at speed incapable of detection! A wonderful of fiun and entertainment for all and a great opportunity for the Tanunda Football Club to thank it’s sponsors, supporters life members and families. Thanks also to the Langmeil Winery for hosting the event, the Tanunda Football Club committee, Chef Shane Lockett and Gavin Noack for their hard work and Ralph Biagi, Barossa Sound and Vision for the audio.”
